lIVING INTEFERES WITH REPORTING-----I'm waay behind in reporting by at least 9 essays---hope to catch up in a month or so. Blogging is a great hobby for me---gives me that extra bit of motivation to probe deeper---capture the moment with camera---ponder the principles. Conventionally speaking my life has been a waste---and I now stand like a man on the gallows with little to gain or lose---I might as well speak my mind---for whatever good or ill or humor it may provoke. Here--in no particular order--are my upcoming--SHORT-- essays.
1. INTERVIEW WITH A HYPERSEXUAL--- An exhilerating experience sure to disturb the moralist.
2. MY STORY IN A NUTSHELL---how I got to be this way.
3. PRECISELY WHY RELIGION IS SUCH AN EVIL.
4. THE MEANING OF LIFE-----MY BEST GUESS.
5. WHAT IS THE ALTERNATIVE TO RELIGION?
6. DOWN ON THE BORDER---PART 4
7. NEW MEXICO BLAZES TRAIL TO A NEW LIFESTYLE.
Randy,
ReplyDeleteIf you can push yourself thru your innate shyness, please tell us what you think about:
Stuff, personal acquisition of stuff/things. Do we own our stuff OR does it own us? Are our lives truly enhanced or possibly diminished with more stuff?
If one is happier with less stuff, how much less? Does the man/woman living on the street (this assumes he is healthy, has enough to eat and stays warm), have more potential for happiness than YOU? with you own nice truck and trailer?
What is the right amount of "stuff"?
#2 and #7, hurry, cant wait to read those..
ReplyDeleteNow that you've written them down...you're committed to the writing.
ReplyDeleteRon,
Stuff owns us.
Continuing what jeffrey started... My votes are for #4, #5, #7.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to them. :)
Ron, you may want to check out what George Carlin had to say about "stuff" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvgN5gCuLac&NR=1

Looking forward to 2 too.
ReplyDeleteRandy, your life has not "been a waste", you're living it like you want.
ReplyDeleteThe meaning of life? Live long and prosper.
I love how you embrace and own it by the title you chose for this post.

I too think your life has not been a waste. I have enjoyed your blogging for quite some time now...I love the pictures, your post, the stories, and your view on life! Most of the time I agree with your take on life! I say "Bravo!" to you for finding a way to get out and see America! I am an 8 to 5er and have grown so tired of it lately...I hope to get out and about very soon!

ReplyDeleteAllow me to encourage you to keep on keepin' on TOO. Until Oct 2015 I'm rather stuck in a j-o-b as well . . . gotta' snag that extra $600 bucks a month to go with my SS, eh? In the meantime, I live that "life of quiet desperation" and seek adventure vicariously through YOU!

We camp/hike, etc. on the weekends and holidays (vacations too) but can never get too far away from the cords which bind us. Your blog reminds me of what is possible when one is ready to shake the shackles of ordinary life and lean into new places and new experiences. Thanks for all that you do.

Have you explained in earlier posts how you converted your trailer to solar? I'm looking into this and it looks great but a little complicated...
ReplyDeleteLooked at another way, many people's lives are a waste because they follow the path of convention rather than taking the less traveled path that would bring them joy and fulfillment. Many of these same folks then look at those who are free and doing exactly what they want and say their lives are a waste. Maybe it's jealousy, who knows. There can be no greater wasted life, IMO, than going to a job you hate, coming home to a spouse you can barely tolerate, watching mindless TV and repeating the same thing day after day.
ReplyDeleteAshley: For the best info on solar installation, google handy bob solar.com ----for the best prices on solar panels google sun elec . If you're anywhere near Phoenix you can pick it up yourself at amazing prices. I've been solar powered for about 15 years and cannot imagine living any other way. At $100 a month savings on utility bills--thats $18000 or about 3 years of frugal freedom.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jack---comforting words when I begin to doubt myself----and you've raised the pivotal question of WHAT IS A WASTED LIFE AND A LIFE WELL SPENT. HMMMM Surely worth our best thought---may give it a shot.
