Nice gig for the rich white folk who live in these podunk towns who don't have to pay appropriate property taxes, eh? In their informed humility, they know that it's all those poor people of color who commit ALL the crime anyway, right? So let 'em pay and pay for what it costs to keep putting themselves away. Never mind the only *real* reason for a police force and the courts anyway is to guard and protect white privilege -- white homes, white businesses, etc.

Wow. Been saying for decades the penalties should not be monetary but community service. That eliminates the muni conflict of interest as well as taking your time in payment and everyone's time is equitable.
It was an excellent piece of reporting. Love that show.
