A SKY FILLED WITH WONDER

IF YOU THINK YOUR CUP IS FULL OF GOOD THINGS---If you think life couldn't be better. I invite to join me in early october at the Albuquerque Balloon Festival

and see a whole sky filled with wonder.

This generous casino and this wonderful town will make your cup overflow.

AND IT'S ALL FREE---Yes you heard me right it's all free---for all these folks who've joined me in the casino RV parking lot.  And that's not all--the casino gives away free soft drinks, coffee and hot chocolate--all you want--24 hrs a day. Also $5 Buffets on occasion.  And they will give you $25 of their money to get you started gambling. (clever Laurie showed us how to guarantee yourself $10 take home cash:  Simply bet $10 on black and $15 on red at the same time--one of them is almost sure to win--then pocket your cash)

Back outside we are treated to this astonishing sight---a flying cow and stagecoach.

Sometimes a balloon will visit you right outside your door.  You may want to know that ballonist who bring their balloons here are given free propane to power them, free hotel rooms and free meals.  I'm guessing that the town somehow makes its money back from the tourist.

Remember Kat and Carol from Salida this summer?

And up from Sedona these two old friends Laurie and Lisa--Singer and Drama coach.

Invited them to stay the night with me--Laurie on the left couch--

Lisa on the right.
Kat at the end

Next morning I make breakfast for all of us.

Friends make living worthwhile.

Next day featured special shapes: Pigs flew, Boots lifted into the air--and much much more.

When those guest left---bingo--a new one arrives.
Her readers and fans will instantly recognize the wondrous wagon of  Kimbopolo.
Check out her blog here.
None other than the editor of my soon-to-be published book.
We have a week together to iron out the details.
We selected a hundred of my best poems and we will produce a Kindle/Amazon download book.
Here's a teaser:

How to Beat the Casinos

Says every casino from Yuma to Reno,
Free parking to all who ramble.
Come on inside, pull out your slide,
Lay down some dollars and gamble.

For the freebie you’re getting, the casino is betting
You cannot resist their bait.
That you're a weak-willed critter sucked in by their glitter,
Whose pocketbook they will deflate.

But if you choose, it’s a bet they will lose,
Certainly for this wandering chap.
Slick as you please, I eat all their cheese,
And scamper away from the trap.

RANDY PHILOSOPHIZES:  Consider this view of Judgment day:  Every person will be made to see life as it really was----will be overwhelmed with wonder---and will be inwardly compelled to admit that it was worth it to have been born.

Your poems are excellent Randy, no so different from todays rap music in a different kind of way. You should put some to music with Laurie's help of course. I super enjoyed your you tube video, thank you. I recently retired, got my 2nd Social Security check, $1050.00 per month, better than nothing. I lose my lease in March, have my rig in good shape (99 ford extended van) and will hit the road March 1st when my lease expires. Kinda scary, "wonder" on the other hand, is worth it. Wonder, what a word, you should expound sometime on its being.

AAh Cigarhippy: thanks and congratulations on your upcoming freedom. Trust me, you can live like a king on $1050 a month. (if you're out of debt) Come on out here and experience wonder, deep freedom, and friendships with courageous personalities on a heros journey.
Come face the anxiety of meaninglessness and become a meaning generator,
Come help us create a new kind of culture, blending mobility and connection.
Come discover who you are and what you really enjoy.
Come experience aloneness and loneliness and notice the difference.
Come read those books you've been meaning to read.
We're waiting for you
We will be welcoming if you are decent.

Thank you Randy, for the wonderful post—and this wonderful invitation! (I'm guessing it applies to more than one person.) My partner and I are decent, working hard, saving, and dreaming of the day we can venture forth to help create that new kind of culture, meet new friends, philosophize, hang out, be gobsmacked at the beauty of the world around us, and enjoy the life we have left while we still have it!

Lorna: Thank you for the thank you---it makes doing this worthwhile.
And thank you for the word GOBSMACKED--love it--so descriptive.

We call it "Paying the Rent" when we go into the casino's for dinner and a little gambling.

Randy said...

Donna: That's a fair way of looking at it. And to be honest "cheapos" like myself who don't pay the rent are sliding by on your backs--because a parking lot of folks like me would soon be exposed and the free ride would soon be over. So thanks

Hello Randy,

I'm a belgian student currently working on subtitling the documentary you were in (Without Bond) for my final thesis, and I'm first writing the transcript.
English not being my first language, sometimes I have trouble understanding exactly what is said.
At one point, Laurie and Chris are in your caravan with you, and Laurie talks about a "quester caravan community" ? "Quester" is what I hear, but I don't know what she says.
If you could also explain me quickly what this community is, so it is easier for me to translate, that would be amazing!
Thanks Randy, I hope you'll see my message.

Regards,
Amandine

Hi Tutafay: What Laurie is saying is quest for community caravan.
That is the name we gave to this traveling group.
Good luck with your project. To contact me directly you can use my regular email: randythepoet@yahoo.com

I met Laurie and Lisa in Sedona. Hi guys! Balloons, friends, breakfast, and a book of poetry - life is good! I saw the announcement on Kim's blog. Congrats! I look forward to reading it, and I love the cover by the way. You and Kim did good. ;))

Randy I recently watched a YouTube video that you were in. I must say I haven't heard someone say so many things that I've thought! My son and I are in the process of living on the road full time. I have sold everything already and traded in my car for a truck! 😊😀 now just finding the rv at the right price. Sorry a little excited!!! Anyway I was wondering if you would allow me to pick your brain just a bit. I have researched a lot and feel confident in what I'm doing but would be nice to hear from someone who has experience :) my email is Amber.antonnet@gmail.com
Thanks so much! And congrats on your book!!

So If we planned to join you for the balloon fiesta what casino would we go to? We plan on being there the first weekend and then going to Amarillo for a class reunion.

Randy said...

Regretably Rojo the Sandia casino no longer allows RV's to park there during the festival.
But there are "40 ways to skin a cat". Get yourself anywy near the area and you will get a good view.

Rojo said...

Thank you Randy, we will be there about the 5th. If you are there, look for a Truck conversion with a back porch and Handicap lift door, we will be looking for you.

Rojo and Jeanie.
